Background
The seventh Africa GIS conference was held at the CSIR International Convention
Centre, Tshwane (Pretoria), South Africa, from 31 October to 4 November 2005.
Delegates from Africa and other regions of the Globe met to discuss the use of
geo-information in Africa and challenges facing them in the decade ahead.
Stats SA's involvement
Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) was one of six polygon sponsors. The
Geography Division contributed to this conference by hosting a workshop,
technical visits, oral and poster presentations. Mr Lehohla (Statistician
General) and Dr Liz Gavin (Deputy Director General) were keynote speakers.
